130 years of lingerie X-rayed
After celebrating its 120th anniversary in 2009, Maison Alice Cadolle continues to celebrate the female body and now pays tribute to it with the publication of the first book dedicated to the saga of the Cadolle Family.
If there is a founding myth within the Cadolle family, it is indeed the 1889 Universal Exhibition celebrating the Centenary of the French Revolution. A theme closely tied to Herminie Cadolle, a revolutionary of the Commune, who presented the patent for the first bra at the foot of the Eiffel Tower! She thus shattered the codes of femininity by freeing women from the corset, 17 years before a certain Coco Chanel, for whom the brand would also create the boyish in 1925.
CADOLLE, A LEGENDARY SAGA — 38 €
December 1870: a resolute young woman decides to leave her native province to settle in Paris. Accompanied by her family, she arrives in a capital at war, surrounded by Prussian armies. Insurrection rumbles. The revolution of the Paris Commune breaks out. Herminie Cadolle is already a convinced feminist and throws herself into this social conflagration with the passion of her 30 years. Peace restored, she and her husband are brought before a war tribunal. Herminie is acquitted and her husband narrowly escapes forced labor and exile. Uncomfortable in a society she considers sclerotic, Herminie decides to leave, alone, to try her luck in Argentina. The story of Cadolle begins in Buenos Aires...
